Obey Commandments (Pray and Obey message dangler)
OBJECTIVE: To help youth understand that when we are obedient and do our part, Heavenly Father will help us.
LESSON-MATCH ACTIVITY:
ACTIVITY: Obey Commandments – Message Dangler
Youth can dangle (hang) this message in their room to remind them that as they obey Heavenly Father’s commandments, they can ask Him for help. He loves them and will help them find their way back to their heavenly home. To read the message, start in the center with #1, then read 2, 3, and 4.
DANDLER READS:
(1) When I need some special care,
(2) I go to Heavenly Father in humble prayer.
(3) I remember that He loves me and wants me to obey.
(4) So I must do my part and He’ll help me find the way!
TESTIMONY: Bear your testimony that Heavenly Father loves each of us and will help us as we are obedient and do our part. Express your appreciation for the example and diligence of Joseph Smith as he faced many problems and challenges in protecting the gold plates.
TO MAKE Print or copy and color the message for each youth on cardstock paper. Cut out ONLY on heavy lines. Bend corners (as shown). Pierce a hole in the top (center) with a pencil. Tie a knot in a 12″ string and thread through. You can add glitter to decorate.
THOUGHT TREAT: Endure-to-the-End Licorice. Youth can eat a string of licorice rope and talk about enduring to the end (D&C 14:7): “And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.”
